An eternal bond

Written by Jan A.F.M. Luijten

The author, a neurologist and psychiatrist, describes the battles of the Canadian armed forces as they liberated the Western region of the Southern Dutch province of Noord-Brabant from the German occupation in the Fall of 1944. He lived through it in his hometown of Bergen op Zoom to share what he witnessed. The liberation by the Canadians became a major experience in the author's life, causing him to study in detail the events of those days. He also travelled to Canada to interview veterans, researched German sources on his subject and closely examined the battle sites.
