A tale dated in 1593, during the Eighty Years' war the Dutch fought with Spain to gain religious liberty for the Dutch United Provinces. While this conflict rages, Heusden's boy Cor and his friends, out for adventure, get entangled with the mean-spirited forester who jails Cor in the dungeon beneath the church, accused of poaching a hare. Cor's friends know that the charge is falls but who will listen to their side of the story? Will anyone care?
