The Holy Spirit, through the Apostle Paul, in this epistle refutes the Judaizers who taught that man 'first must fulfill certain conditions before he can partake of God's offer of salvation in Jesus Christ.' In insisting on circumcision, the Judaizers essentially placed man's action first, God second. Paul calls this a perversion of the true gospel of God's grace in Christ. By insisting on circumcision and on the observance of the Jewish holy days, the Judaizers had erected a wall between Christ and the sinner and annulled the gospel of free grace through Jesus Christ and robbed God of his majesty and glory. In this epistle, Paul also discusses his apostolic calling, the complete justification of the sinner through redemption in Christ, the nature of Christian liberty, and the meaning of the law in the lives of God's liberated children.
