Van Raalte’s Dutch immigrant settlement of Holland, Michigan sprung up, leading to the relocation of the Ottawa band to a place farther to the north. The book reveals the crucial roles Smith and the Ottawas played in the very early segment of Holland’s history. Published as part of the Historical Series of the Reformed Church in America (HSRCA).
