The earliest Protestant mission and Ch’oe Pyong-hon

This dissertation on the earliest part of the history of the Christian Church in Korea was successfully defended at the Leiden University in the Netherlands by a Korean theologian who originally studied the Dutch language as well as Economics in Seoul. The author analyzes the message presented by the early Protestant missionaries to Korean audiences and the writings of Methodist pastor Ch’oe Pyong-hon in order to reconstruct early Korean Christian faith and gain insight into the way in which a Korean Christian understood the teachings of the missionaries and rephrased them to make them more effective in the Korean context. The English-language book is part of a Dutch series on Mission.
