He shares his struggles and disappointments leading up to his arrest, which includes examples of how the Nazis attempted - and at times succeeded - to control what was being said from the pulpit in sermons as well as in prayers and so doing to silence the Church. (Decades later, these struggles offer valuable lessons still now that governments seem to encroach again on the freedom of worship and conscience.)
