Studies in the Belgic Confession

Life in Christ series

Written by Bradd Nymeyer, and Al Bezuyen

A 25-lesson course on the Belgic Confession of Faith, created for Middle School (Grades 7 and 8). A document born amidst severe persecution and first adopted by the Lowlands Reformed Churches in 1561, the Belgic Confession is addressed to the Spanish King Philips II in defense of the historic Christian faith. It was accompanied by a letter to the king and includes a prayer for him, in which author Guide de Bres urges him to end the persecution of Christ believers.

Instead, the authorities put a bounty on the head of Rev. De Bres and burnt his house and library to ashes. Eventually De Bres was caught and executed. The Belgic Confession is recognized widely as a faithful summary of what the Bible teaches. This volume of the Life in Christ series could be helpful too to introduce newcomers to the Christian faith to its history.

Paperback, 200 pages, Binding Spiral, letter size format, illustrated, work book with questions and assignments about the Belgic Confession, supplemented with references to the Heidelberg Catechism and the Westminster Shorter Catechism
