Written by Hermannus Knoop

This book presents the thoughts of a Reformed Christian minister who lived through the horrid experiences of a German concentration camp during World War II. He shares his struggles and disappointments leading up to his arrest, which includes examples of how the Nazis attempted - and at times succeeded - to control what was being said from the pulpit in sermons as well as in prayers and so doing to silence the Church.  (Decades later, these struggles offer valuable lessons still now that governments seem to encroach again on the freedom of worship and conscience.)

In his book, the author gives a vivid description of what a Nazi concentration camp was all about. In the faces of his trials, he testifies of his faith in the God of heaven and earth who never fails to fulfill His promises. Rev. Knoop experienced God's presence in this hell of Dachau in wondrous ways so that he and others remained faithful to Him, even unto death.
