A Historical Novel
Written by Gertie Pool
The author, in her book, unveils a shattered dream that rises like a phoenix. She describes one family's immense despair and its struggle to survive life-threatening circumstances in the Second World War, from 1939-1945. This action filled wartime saga, that takes place in a central Dutch community (the Nijverdal region), enables readers of all ages to gain a sense of history and the sacrifices that were made to grant following generations a chance to live in freedom. A treasured reality, that liberty, was paid for with the lives of an estimated 55 million civilian and military in WWII.
(Author Gertie Pool is a freelance writer. Her novel is based on true facts from her family's gripping wartime experiences and is followed by surprising adventures with an unfamiliar culture in Canada, where they settle as new immigrants. Gertie and her husband John reside in British Columbia, Canada, and have an extended family that includes children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.)
